National Sales Manager (Retail Field Sales)

The National Sales Manager (Retail, Field Sales) is responsible for maximizing our presence at retailers by managing the efforts of our retail field sales team and coordinating the execution of field marketing projects. This position ensures team execution of sales goals by enabling the field sales team to deliver excellent customer satisfaction and position Allegion products to win. This position oversees the operation of multiple field sales employees within a designated geographic area of the United States.


  • Provide direction & coaching to field sales team on the development of relationships with retail associates as well as store, district, and regional management to achieve sales goals

  • Performance management of field sales team with clear communication, corrective action planning and coaching for development

  • Responsible for creating a strong culture of engaged employees committed to the Allegion values and products

  • Assess and evaluate field sales performance consistently; make recommendations to leadership on opportunities for process improvement in the field

  • Drive field sales team’s use of CRM software to store and communicate market insights – including but not limited to store information, contact information, sales opportunities, and competitive intelligence

  • Drive field team’s use of business intelligence tools as a catalyst for opportunity identification and actionable discussion with store management

  • Partner with account and channel marketing teams to develop, & execute field marketing initiatives

  • Measure, analyze, and communicate progress toward project & sales goal completion

  • Participate in headquarter meetings as a subject matter expert on in-store execution

  • Lead set execution at headquarter stores and planogram facilities

  • Maintain awareness of all Allegion policies, guidelines, and procedures and ensure compliance


  • Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Business, Marketing or related field

  • Minimum 5-7 years of field sales experience (preferably in Mass/Big Box Retailers), including experience managing field-based employees

  • Track record as an excellent coach, actively developing and empowering subordinates with an ability to lead a high performing team and a desire to help team members win in the field

  • Strong networking and relationship building skills

  • Highly motivated and organized with excellent project management skills

  • Strong collaboration skills, including the ability to work effectively leveraging resources across multiple functions and geographies

  • Strong customer focus

  • Ability to travel 50-75%
