Steelcraft is a manufacturer of Hollow Metal Doors & Frames, located in Blue Ash, Ohio. We are a division of Allegion PLC, whose mission is to “Make the World a Safer Place”. Steelcraft employs 700 people in the Cincinnati area in a large scale manufacturing facility, with a 75 year history of providing great customer service. SCOPE OF THE ROLE :
- Lead the Operations & Maintenance groups at Steelcraft, consisting of 30 salaried employees and 500+ hourly employees, to achieve the goals in Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and People Development. Help set strategy and execute on it for the future growth of Steelcraft. This position reports directly to the Plant Manager.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES :
Ensure successful execution of the Tactical responsibilities
Meet with Plant Leadership Team for daily strategy meeting
Work with Process Managers to implement weekly / monthly / annual strategy
Set overall staffing plans for the business
Be a catalyst for People Development , including themselves
Set structure and fill roles for the Operations & Maintenance salaried team (roughly 30 people)
Identify areas of development & strengths for direct reports, as well as their reports, to help drive growth
Interact daily with the Hourly workforce to help drive change and improve culture, utilizing our Engagement tools
Partner with leadership team peers to drive personal development within yourself, and others
Ensure MDI Process is compliant and active
Help set the structure and metrics of the Plant, Value Stream, and cellular MDI boards
Lead problem solving events, including A3’s and Kaizen events
Participate in the Daily Gemba walks and audits, encouraging the development of the process managers, team leaders, and support groups
Create a SAFE work environment and proactively solve safety issues
Partner with the EH&S leader to help drive strategy around Safety improvements
Ensure QUALITY standards are being met, and issues are being addressed and solved quickly
Partner with Quality leader to help set strategy on the top issues, and work to resolve with the team
Drive DELIVERY to our customers
Flex and set labor, machines, and work levels, if needed, to address production bottleneck or capacity constraint areas proactively
Reduce COST by driving improvements in the business
Partner with process managers to drive Overtime, Scrap, and spend down
Work with Engineering and NPD groups on new product launch
Engage our PEOPLE by supporting their needs, driving accountability, and celebrating wins
50% of the time of this role is spent on the shop floor
Utilize our Engagement Score and Strength finder to drive a positive culture change at Steelcraft
Report directly to the Plant Manager
Responsible for three (3) salaried Process Managers (Doors, Frames, and Maintenance)
Those 3 Process Managers have 26 total salaried reports
Responsible for 500+ hourly associates, through the supervisors
Peer to this role is the Leadership Team (EH&S, EnEx, Supply Chain, Quality, Engineering, IT, HR, Finance)
HOURS / ROLES
This person is responsible for all shifts of the plant, on all days. However, there is coverage in place.
Typical work day is 6:45am – 5:30pm, but can vary greatly depending on business needs
Occasional Saturday coverage / support is beneficial
