Instructional Designer

This position is responsible for designing, developing, and managing learning programs for product, application, and solution training for delivery to Allegion customers and Allegion Sales. The role will work closely with Sales, Field Marketing, the Product Platform team, the Go-To-Market Teams, the Digital Customer Experience Team, and others on the Training Team to identify training needs, articulate measurable learning outcomes, and design and develop digital tools that drive customer and employee productivity.

  • Identify training opportunities based on defined performance gaps and learning needs

  • Create courseware, including facilitator guides and participant materials (for instructor-led, self-study, online, and webinar training), that utilizes recognized principles of adult learning

  • Manage multiple development projects and ensure their successful completion

  • Leverage subject matter experts to support the training project design and development

  • Recommend training interventions as appropriate based on assessment of training needs.Recommend alternate interventions when training is not the solution

  • Communicate to training managers, marketing, and sales on the status, effectiveness, and roadmap of assigned training programs

  • Determine alternative learning mechanisms to effectively and efficiently reach more employees, customers, and channel organizations

  • Effectively manage resources, including vendors, budgets, travel, and subject matter experts and share best practices and processes to maximize resources

Requirements:

  • Experience in designing technical training programs.

  • Willingness to develop a subject-matter expertise across our product platforms and solutions.

  • Demonstrated ability to create engaging training programs for a broad range of audiences and skill levels.

  • Four-year degree in Instructional Design or Education. Advanced degree or equivalent work experience preferred.

  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

  • Ability to work closely with stakeholders and subject matter experts and listening to gather, clarify and apply information

  • Ability to think critically, to recognize and anticipate problems, and to identify and implement solutions in a timely manner

  • Possess a desire to understand how things work, what is important to a given target audience, and why it is important

  • Dedication to meeting the expectations and requirements of internal and external customers and a persistent approach to keeping the learners’ needs, challenges, and interests in mind at all times

  • Communicate clearly, succinctly, and with precision in a variety of communication settings and styles and on a variety of topics

  • 20-30% travel is required
